Per Click (PPC) Advertising Network –This is an
advertising network by some third party organization like Google,
Yahoo etc. You can register with any of such ad network. These ad
networks put relevant ads (text or images) on your website. The ads
depend upon the topic of your website.
Your earnings depend upon following factors,
Number of visitors depends upon the topic of your website or blog. E.g. if your website/blog is about a very rare topic which very people know about, then the traffic on your website/blog will be very less but if the topic is very well known, like Adventure Sports then you will surely have pretty good number of visitors.

E.g. you have an ad banner with price $5 CPM & if there are 50,000 page views monthly then you will earn $50 monthly.

Own Banner Advertising –
This is the most lucrative advertising option as you are the one who interact directly with your Advertiser removing the middleman. Also, you can decide the rate of Advertisements that will be shown on your website/blog. But you will get your own advertisers only if you have very high number of visitors.
Text Link Advertising –
Some part of the text is hyperlinked to specific page on another website. The hyperlinked part of the text Is called Text Link Ad. You will get paid based on the number of clicks on the Text Link Ads or you may receive flat amount. This type of advertising is less popular.
In-Text Advertising –
These are the sponsored links inside the text on your website or blog. These ads have double underline under the text to distinguish them from normal links. When reader hovers a mouse over this link, an advertisement pops up & if reader clicks on it, you get paid. But these ads are very intrusive & readers don’t like these ads. Some of the advertising networks are Kontera & Vibrant Media.
Audio Advertising –
Also known as Pay Per Play (PPP). In this type of advertising, a small audio is played when reader visits your page. There is no option for user to stop it. This is very intrusive kind of advertising.
Pay Per Sale or Lead Advertising –
In this kind of Advertising you generally have partnership or affiliation with some organization. The organization places ads on your website. When visitor clicks on the ad, navigates to the advertiser’s website & buys something, you get a commission depending upon the policies of the Advertiser. This is generally a flat amount which may depend upon the product being advertised. The returns may be high compared to PPC & CPM ads but probability of visitor clicking these ads is less unless ads are highly targeted.
So, it is up to you to decide what kind of ads will work best for your website or blog. Make a detailed analysis of your business topic, analyze your visitors, their behavior on your website/blog and decide upon the ads you will be showing.
